Spotlight on Tactical Training:
Attacking Strategies
Offensive Styles of Play

Dear Coach,
In my previous newsletters, I’ve tried
to communicate the message home that the
quality of play should not be sacrificed
for winning. But after a long hard
season, there will eventually be a
winner and how that team has achieved
this success does not always make them
the most attractive attacking team to
watch.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the
Brazilian National team play during the
recent Women’s FIFA World Cup, even
though they were the eventual runners-up
to Germany their style and flair was not
sacrificed to achieve success.
This month’s edition of Coach’s Corner
will help you adopt an attacking style
which will allow your teams to play. We
all have different styles and approach
to the game which may have to vary.
Even the coaches at the top level have
to adapt their styles depending on the
personal or the team they are playing
against. When working with youth
players educating them to play smart
soccer not only will help your teams
look better but will help children
develop into all round soccer players.
Enjoy the final few weeks of you fall
soccer season
See you at the far post

Four New Lesson
Plan's
|
Below are four sample lesson plans that focus on
Attacking
Strategies: Offensive Styles of Play
As coaches you devote significant energy and time in
providing the best opportunity for your players to
experience and enjoy the game. It is very important that
before you attend any practice session with your team that
you have a structured plan in place.
Many coaches also like to build a library which the can use
for the season, you can do this by writing your own plan out
on a blank practice planning form (see sample
Lesson Plan Form) or using other resources such as the
Lesson Plans on the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association
website.
