US Adult Soccer Region II - Soccer Midwest

United States Adult Soccer Association

Hall of Fame 2006 Inductions

Two Kentuckians Inducted - Everett and Peggy Polley

The foundation for establishing the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Hall of Fame was laid in 2005, with the appointment of a Hall of Fame Committee, the development of induction criteria and the solicitation of nominees.  With the establishment of the Hall of Fame long overdue, it was felt that a substantial number of individuals needed to be recognized early in the process.  The United States Adult Soccer Association is an entity of 239,000 players, administrators, coaches and thousands from the referee categories.

Nominees were chosen on the basis of having made a significant contribution toward the development and advancement of adult amateur soccer, and were selected by a broad 18-member selection panel formed for that purpose.  The Selection Panel was comprised of USASA Hall of Fame Committee, Chairman Bruno Trapikas, as well as a representative from each of its 8 standing committees of USASA.

Hall of Fame inductees numbered 41 in the first year.  Region 1 had 12 inductees. Region 2 had 17, of which Kentucky had 2 inductees. Region 3 had 6 inductees.  Region 4 had 6 inductees.

Everett Polley of Louisville, KY was inducted into the USASA Hall of Fame 2006.  He was Regional Director for Region 2 from 1991 to 1996.  He was Deputy Director from 1988 to 1991.  He began his soccer career in 1974 by enrolling children in a local soccer program. He founded the Okolona Soccer Club, which will celebrate their 30th year in Spring of 2007.  He served as President of Okolona Soccer Club for many years. He helped found the Jefferson County Youth Soccer League in 1978 and led the founding of Kentucky Youth Soccer Association in 1979, serving as Vice President for three years.  He was a player, coach, manager and administrator.  Founder of Kentucky Soccer Association in 1982, serving as president for 10, also served as president of the Greater Louisville Soccer League for three years. In 1985-1988 he was select team committee for Region II and has served on the USSF Pro Committee and the USASA Insurance Committee.  He is the recipient of one of only ten Founders of the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association awards.

Also, Peggy Polley of Louisville, KY was inducted into the USASA Hall of Fame 2006.  She started getting involved with soccer administration in 1975 with the Firestone Park Soccer Club. Peggy was a founding member of the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association.  She served as Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association President, Secretary, Referee Assignor, Game Assignor and other major projects like fields, uniforms, etc.  She was involved with the ODP of Ohio North.  She organized the first girls’ team to represent Ohio North Youth Soccer Association ODP Program. Served as Secretary to Ohio North Soccer Association (adult soccer) from 1978 to 1991 and President from 1991-1992.  In 1982, she served as Chairman of the USASA Women’s Committee and was the Region II Select Team Women’s Administrator from 1985-1990.  She has served as the USASA Membership Chairman, from 1988-1994 and from 1995 to present.  She developed pamphlets and booklet for membership recruitment.  She worked as Assistant to the Director of Referees of the United States Soccer Federation in 1992.  In 1992, she moved to Louisville, KY where she has been involved with the Select Teams of KY, Greater Louisville Soccer League, and President of Kentucky Soccer Association since 2005. Peggy was the Editor of the first USASA Newsletter in 1991.  She was inducted into the Ohio North Youth Soccer Association Hall of Fame in the first class of inductees of 2001.  Peggy was a player, coach, referee and administrator in soccer.
