Vapor Sports

Josh Appel, a former player of Bluegrass Soccer Club and Asbury University has been on a mission to spread the word of the Lord through his other passion, Soccer. During a recent visit back to Kentucky, Josh met with Kentucky Youth Soccer staff to help design a coaching curriculum for the company he now is employed by, Vapor Sports Ministries.

Vapor Sports Ministries are established centers for humanitarian aid and disciple making in third-world environments.  The centers are the cornerstones for their mission and through them they hope to achieve three main goals:  Equipping the unequipped, alleviating poverty and multiplying disciples.

Josh has recently returned from visiting three African centers in Togoville, Togo; Kawangware Slum in Nairobi, Kenya; and Gichagi Slum in Ngong, Kenya. During his visit he was able to use the coaching manual which was created with the assistance of Adrian Parrish, Kentucky Youth Soccer Director of Coaching to help coaches understand the characteristics each coach should have, characteristics to be developed in each player that is a part of our sports leagues, as well as creative ideas for what skills to learn and what activities to use to teach those skills.

Kentucky Youth Soccer along with Lafayette High School donated slightly used uniforms for the coaches and players to use while teaching and playing the game.  Josh went on to show his true gratitude by quoting “So many people around the world live in poverty, and their lives are cut short because of poverty related causes.  I have been blessed in order to be a blessing to others, and Vapor is a great way that I can get involved in making a difference in the lives of people in the poorest places around the world!  We were also blessed to have jerseys donated by Adrian Parrish as well as Lafayette High School boy's soccer team, coached by Chris Grimm, to use at our centers.  It is incredible to see the soccer community in Kentucky coming together to serve the poorest of the poor around the world!  I am humbled to be able to serve as a part of Vapor, and I am proud to be a product of Kentucky Youth Soccer!”
Kentucky Youth Soccer Association has also recently donated old ODP Jerseys to organizations in Mali, Northern Ireland and Italy.
