Kentucky Youth Soccer Awards Scholarship Winners
LEXINGTON, KY (July 6, 2012) – After weeks of review and deliberation, Kentucky Youth Soccer today announced the winners of the John and Sue Gompper Founders Scholarship. In total Kentucky Youth Soccer will award a sum of $8,000 to help provide financial support to young student athletes faced with rising college costs.

Mary Katherine Schmidt (Louisville – Illinois Wesleyan University)
Macauley Campbell (Owensboro – Transylvania University)
Austin Juniet (Ft Thomas – Northern Kentucky University)
Vince Shaw (Versailles – Xavier University)
William Hillebrand (Prospect – Western Kentucky University)
"After reviewing each application in depth, we were amazed to learn more about the young people in our organization and how they are making a positive impact both on and off the field in their communities," stated Tim Turney, Kentucky Youth Soccer’s President. "We believe that the lessons players learn in the youth soccer system – teamwork, dedication, discipline, passion, and a sense of pride – help to build a strong foundation for all of our kids regardless if they continue playing soccer at the next level or not. We congratulate all of our Scholarship winners, and the entire class of 2012 for their achievements and know that great things are headed their way."
