FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LEXINGTON, KY – Kentucky Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 John & Sue Gompper Founders Scholarship. This year, KYSA awarded a total of $15,000 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding dedication both on and off the soccer field, and in their academic pursuits.

The John and Sue Gompper Founders Scholarship, established in 2009, continues to honor the legacy of its founders, who were instrumental in the development of youth soccer in Kentucky. To date, the program has provided over $115,000 in financial aid, supporting students as they embark on their post-secondary educational journeys.

“We are thrilled to support these remarkable young individuals in their academic and personal endeavors. This scholarship not only honors John and Sue Gompper’s profound commitment to our soccer community but also reinforces our dedication to nurturing the holistic development of our athletes. It is a privilege to contribute to their future successes,” said Kris Zander, Kentucky Youth Soccer Executive Director.

This prestigious award does not require recipients to participate in collegiate soccer, underscoring the organization’s broader commitment to education and community service. It celebrates students who exemplify the spirit of giving back to the game and their communities, embodying the core values of Kentucky Youth Soccer.

The scholarship recipients will be formally recognized at the upcoming ‘Of the Year’ Awards Luncheon, celebrating their accomplishments and contributions to the Kentucky soccer community.
